Is it weird to really enjoy a show for the writing and talent involved, but truly dread watching from week to week because everyone and everything about it is so depressing?
When I finish an episode I feel exactly like the picture below, I just want to be alone.
Sundance has done some really great things on the limited-series/mini-series front the last few years. "Top of the Lake". "The Returned" was really phenomenal and I look forward to the second series of that one. This show is another example. Truly great. I understand how you feel about the content. It's one of the reasons I almost didn't watch Starz' "The Knick"; but, now I'm really glad I did. My standard for watching a show with very dark content is whether the writing, acting, directing is superb and basically whether or not it engages and entertains me. It's due to this standard that I gave up on "The Leftovers" after 4 episodes.
