A&E ORDERS SECOND SEASON OF THE HIT DRAMA SERIES 'THE GLADES'

 A&E Network has picked up a second season of the acclaimed drama series, "The Glades" starring Matt Passmore, it was announced today by Bob DeBitetto, President and General Manager of A&E Network and BIO Channel.

Season-to-date, "The Glades" is averaging 3.2 million total viewers per premiere episode with 1.3 million adults 25-54 and 1.1 million adults 18-49. Not only has the series become A&E's number one program among total viewers since premiering in July, but "The Glades" has propelled A&E to ad-supported cable's number one network on Sunday nights among total viewers.

"'The Glades' has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal audience in its first season," said DeBitetto. "With superb writing and exceptional acting, led by a standout performance by Matt Passmore, we're pleased that the series has struck a chord with fans."

Season two of "The Glades" will begin pre-production later this year on thirteen new episodes slated to premiere in 2011. A&E is currently beginning production on the new scripted drama series "Breakout Kings," also slated for a 2011 premiere.

A&E TO PREMIERE NEW DRAMA SERIES "THE GLADES" TUESDAY, JULY 13

The A&E Network will premiere the original scripted drama series, "The Glades" (previously titled "Sugarloaf") on Tuesday, July 13th at 10PM ET/PT. "  "The Glades," a character driven police procedural set in the fictional town of Palm Glade, Florida, stars Australian actor Matt Passmore ("McLeod's Daughters," "Underbelly"), Kiele Sanchez ("Lost," "Samantha Who?") and Carlos Gomez ("Shark," "Sleeper Cell").

 In "The Glades," Passmore stars as Jim Longworth, an attractive, brilliant, yet hard to get along with homicide detective from Chicago who after being wrongfully accused of sleeping with his former Captain's wife is forced into exile. Longworth relocates to the sleepy small resort town in the middle of nowhere on the Gulf Coast of Florida where the sunshine and golf are plentiful and crime is seemingly at a minimum. Yet life in the sleepy townis not as beautiful as it may seem.

In the pilot episode, the easy life quickly falls by the wayside when a decapitated, unidentifiable woman is found in a creek, begrudgingly dragging Longworth off the golf course in pursuit of her killer. Complicating matters more is his relationship with Callie (Sanchez), a quick-witted, beautiful med student with a 12 year-old son and a husband in prison. With a Titleist sitting on the fourteenth fairway waiting for him to break eighty for the first time in his life, Longworth needles, cajoles, and harangues everyone in his path, including his golf partner and department medical examiner Carlos (Gmez), as he puzzles out the facts surrounding the mysterious killing to try and identify the victim and bring her killer to justice.

A&E PREMIERES NEW ORIGINAL REAL-LIFE SERIES "RUNAWAY SQUAD"

 A&E kicks off the original real-life series "Runaway Squad," following former NYPD detective Joe Mazzilli and his team of private investigators, who track, rescue and reunite runaways with their families. The seven episode series will feature a special one-hour premiere on Monday, April 5 at 10 PM ET/PT on A&E followed by back-to-back half-hour episodes each week.

GENE SIMMON'S FAMILY JEWELS RETUNRS FOR AN ALL NEW SEASON SUNDAY, MARCH 21

Gene Simmons returns with his unconventional family for an all-new season of A&E's hit unscripted series "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," premiering with a special one-hour episode on Sunday, March 21 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Season five, which will cross the 100th episode threshold, begins with a terrifying moment for America's most traditional, non-traditional family. Shannon has a health scare that makes the family rally and Gene is caught between two worlds being there for the mother of his two children and being on tour with KISS.

 

The new season will give viewers a behind the scenes look at the family's many adventures and milestone moments that make them so cohesive. From Sophie's high school graduation, to Gene's 60th and Nick's 21st birthdays, this is going to be a very emotional year for Gene and Shannon as both their children are fast becoming adults.

 

With everything going on at home, KISS has been in the midst of a two year, sold out world tour, celebrating 35 years of rocking the planet. Viewers will be meeting up with Gene in several cities that KISS plays on its American leg of the tour and get unprecedented all-access. The family also spends more time on the road with Gene. The Demon's touring schedule didn't allow much at home time with the kids when they were younger, but this time, the plan is to keep the family close.

 

His goal during the tour is to fulfill his obligations but not miss important family moments as he serves two masters - KISS and family.

In addition, this season will feature Nick playing with KISS members Tommy Thayer (Lead Guitar), Eric Singer (Drums) and dad on bass at Comic-Con for the launch of his newest graphic novel, Incarnate, which Nick both wrote and drew, Sophie looking at colleges, Gene touring his roots in New York City, and much more.

"MAD MEN" PICKED UP FOR 4TH SEASON

"Mad Men" will stick around for at least one more year.

AMC announced Tuesday (Sept. 1) that it has renewed the show for a fourth season. The pickup is almost a formality, given the show's record ratings for its third-season premiere and the fact that creator Matthew Weiner signed a two-year deal earlier this year to remain with the show.

"It's been extremely gratifying to see the show develop into such a pop-cultural phenomenon with such a passionate fan base," AMC president and general manager Charlie Collier says. "With this early fourth season renewal, we're excited to let our audience know the captivating world of Sterling Cooper will be back on AMC again next year."

"Mad Men" debuted to 2.8 million viewers, the biggest audience in the show's history, on Aug. 16. AMC says cumulative viewing (including reruns and DVR) pushed the total to 4.5 million. The ratings have tailed off some in subsequent weeks but are still running a good ways ahead of last season.

The cable channel also notes that the series has the highest concentration of "upscale" viewers 25-54 -- those with six-figure incomes -- of any drama series on cable.
