Kara DioGuardi is stepping down from her role as a judge on AMERICAN IDOL. DioGuardi joined AMERICAN IDOL as a judge in the series' eighth season.

"I felt like I won the lottery when I joined AMERICAN IDOL two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave IDOL," said DioGuardi. "I am very proud to have been associated with AMERICAN IDOL - it has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to FOX, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me. I look forward to my next challenge, and want to thank everyone who has supported me. All the best to everyone on Season 10!"

ELLEN DEGENERES QUITS "AMERICA IDOL"

Ellen DeGeneres has decided to leave her role as a judge on AMERICAN IDOL next season . DeGeneres served as a judge during the ninth season of of the hit series.

 "A couple months ago, I let Fox and the American Idol producers know that this didn't feel like the right fit for me," DeGeneres said in a statement. "I told them I wouldn't leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next."

 Fox is expected to announce Cowell's replacement at the Television Critics Association's fall previews on Monday, no word yet on whether  DeGeneres"s replacement will be announced.

MILEY CYRUS TO MENTOR TOP 11 FINALIST TONIGHT ON "AMERICAN IDOL"

Miley Cyrus will appear on tonight's episode of "American Idol" as a mentor for the top 11 finalists.

Wednesday's result show will feature Cyrus performing her hit single "When I Look At You".  If that is not enough for you tweens out there, Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato will perform their single "Make A Wave".

ELLEN DeGENERES 4TH JUDGE ON AMERICAN IDOL

FOX has a released a statement that Ellen Degeneres will be the new fourth judge on this season of "American Idol". I am very excited to hear this news with me being a fan of Ellen and American Idol. I think this will add a little more sane commentary and humor to the show and not the constant pathetic ramblings of Paula Abdul that garnered laughter.

For the people out there who do not watch "The Ellen Show" she has in pass always had on the weekly eliminated talent from "American Idol" and always expressed her opinion very honestly regarding their elimination. I am very interested to see the chemistry between Simon, Randy, and Carla. I know that her and Ryan Seacrest are personal friends so that chemistry should easily come through to the American audience.

DeGeneres stated that "I'm thrilled to be the new judge on American Idol," the Daytime Emmy-winning talk show host said in a statement.

"I've watched since the beginning, and I've always been a huge fan. So getting this job is a dream come true, and think of all the money I'll save from not having to text in my vote."

Ellen will join the other judges once the audition rounds have over.

PAULA ABDUL DECIDES TO LEAVE "AMERICAN IDOL"

Paula Abdul has decided to not return to American Idol for the upcoming 9th season. Ms. Abdul released her statement today via Twitter

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all...being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon,"

I wonder does this decision have something to do with the announcement that Kara DioGuardio will be back next year.

KARA DIOGUARDI RETURNING AS "AMERICAN IDOL" JUDGE

The Fox network says Kara DioGuardi (KA'-ruh dee-oh-GWAHR'-dee) will be back for her second round as a judge on "American Idol."

The Grammy-nominated songwriter joined original panelists Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul last season.

Her arrival raised questions about the future of Abdul on the hit talent competition. Abdul is still negotiating for next year.

"American Idol" starts its ninth season in January.
