LIFETIME'S HIT DRAMA 'ARMY WIVES" RETURNS FOR FOURTH SEASON ON APRIL 11, 2010

Army Wives, cable's #1 rated drama series among Women 18-49, will return for its fourth season with 18 all-new episodes set to premiere on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at 10 pm (ET/PT) on Lifetime Television.

 

The most successful series in Lifetime's 25-year history, Army Wives' remarkable third season was the highest-rated season in the series' history among Total Viewers, Adults 18+ and Women 25-34 and the most watched season in its history among Women 25-34. In addition, Army Wives has been the highest-rated original drama on ad-supported cable among Women 18-49 for two consecutive years.

PROJECT RUNWAY RETURNS JANUARY 14TH

"Project Runway" returns Thursday, January14 on Lifetime.  I am sure hoping for a better season than the last one.  The producers have confirmed that the original judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Michael Kors will appear in all episodes.  Hopfully this will help to keep the most gifted designers around, unlike last season.  

Nicole Richie will appear as a guest judge on the season's first episode.

LIFETIME ORDERS MORE "DROP DEAD DIVA"

Lifetime's comedic drama "Drop Dead Diva" has been renewed for a second season.

The network has ordered 13 new episodes of the freshman series to air in 2010.

"Drop Dead Diva," which premiered in July as Lifetime's best original drama series has become the first scripted series since " Army Wives" to earn a second-season pickup. It has averaged 2.6 million viewers a week.

The series, about a dead shallow model reincarnated in the body of a brilliant plus-size attorney (Brooke Elliott), has been pretty consistent in its storytelling and development of the characters.

I think what has made this show so popular is the talented Brooke Elliott who plays Jane in such a real and vulnerable way. You want so much for her to have everything life has to offer.

SHERRI SHEPHERD'S NEW COMEDY "SHERRI" GETS PREMIERE DATE

Lifetime Television Sets October 5 Premiere for 'Sherri,' All-New Comedy Series Starring Comedienne and Daytime Emmy(R) Award-Nominated Co-Host of 'The View' Sherri Shepherd

Actress, comedienne and co-host of ABC's The View, Sherri Shepherd (30 Rock, Less Than Perfect) leaps from daytime to primetime to headline her own, all-new, multi-camera comedy series Sherri, premiering Monday, October 5, at 7PM ET/PT on Lifetime Television.

Sherri will then move into its regular timeslot (Tuesdays, 10PM ET/PT), followed by Rita Rocks (Tuesdays, 10:30PM ET/PT).

Sherri centers around a newly single mom, paralegal and part-time comedienne/actress who tries to get back into the dating scene and move on with her life after divorcing her cheating husband. Sherri finds solace and support among her girlfriends at the office while juggling her hectic life.

Sherri marks the first comedy series ever to be wholly owned by Lifetime. The Network has picked up 12 episodes of the program, to be produced in New York by Lifetime Television. Also starring in the series are Elizabeth Regen (The Black Donnellys), Kate Reinders (Ugly Betty), Kali Rocha (Grey's Anatomy) and Tammy Townsend (TV's Lincoln Heights).

Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Cosby Show) and James Avery (The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), will guest-star in multiple episodes.

DROP DEAD DIVA: MISS TV GIRL REVIEW

I just finished watching the first two episodes of "Drop Dead Diva" and to my surprise and delight, I really enjoyed the show. It's perfect for the female target audience of Lifetime.

There is nothing original about the premise of show, "Drop Dead Diva". It is a switcheroo story about a shallow self absorbed model who dies at the exact time as a compassionate and generous plus-sized lawyer and her shallow spirit ends up in the body of a sweet spirit of someone other than her own body.

While watching the show I forgot about the previous versions of this common Hollywood premise that has so often been played out for our entertainment.What makes this version so different and entertaining? The execution and the development of the main and supporting characters.

I am truly interested in getting to know more about these characters and their lives.

I must give a lot of the credit to the lead Brooke Elliott who plays Jane and doesn't miss a beat with her wonderful, sensitive and funny interpretation of this character.

What is bad about "Drop Dead Diva" ? The men are pretty much the eye candy of the hour and not much more. I really do hope to see more development and changes in that area, but then again this is Lifetime "the channel for and about women".

On August 20, Eight Project Runway Designers From Past Seasons Return to Compete in a Two-Hour Lifetime Special ' Project Runway: All-Star Challenge.

For the first time in Project Runway history, eight former fan favorites and Project Runway superstars are returning to the catwalk to compete against one another in the two-hour special, Project Runway: All-Star Challenge. The spirited competition premieres Thursday, August 20, at 8PM ET/PT and will be followed by the highly anticipated premiere of the sixth season of Project Runway at 10PM ET/PT and the debut of the all-new companion series, Models of the Runway, at 11PM ET/PT. Now I actually watch "Project Runway"but I must admit I am not the least bit interested in seeing "The Models of the Runway".

USA "DROP DEAD DIVA" OFF TO A GOOD START

"Drop Dead Diva" drew 2.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched series launch on the channel since "Army Wives" in 2007. The show, which stars Brooke Elliott and Brooke D'Orsay, snagged a 1.6 rating in Lifetime's core demo of women 18-49, a big improvement over 9 p.m. Sunday slot's recent performance.
