"THE BOONDOCKS" RETURNS SUNDAY, MAY 2ND AT 11:30PM ON ADULT SWIM

GREAT NEWS:NBC RENEWS PARENTHOOD FOR A SECOND SEASON

Released by Miss TV Girl

Greatest news ever, NBC has picked up one of my favorite new shows "Parenthood".  The freshman dramedy chronicles three generations of the Braverman family and stars the very talented and large cast of Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Dax Shephard, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Mae Whitman, Miles Heizer, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger, Dax Shepard, Joy Bryant, Monica Potter, Sarah Ramos, and Max Burkholder.

“We are so happy to welcome back this multilayered and compelling series about an extended American family for another season,” NBC prez Angela Bromstad said in a statement. “It’s gratifying that Parenthood continues to garner critical acclaim and is generating highly positive reaction from viewers, thanks to the fearless creativity of its producers and the extraordinary performances delivered by its ensemble cast.”

The midseason replacement based on the Ron Howard film of the same name has proved to be a solid performer for NBC and became the first show this season to defeat timeslot rival CBS hit The Good Wife.

This is the such great news for televsion.  I think we can all agree that the quality of programming has decreased tremendously over the past few years with the increase of reality television shows.

I am once again doing my happy dance.

NBCwill announce its 2010-11 schedule on May 17th. Its expected that the Parenthood will return in the fall (rather than mid-season) and keep its current timeslot.

THE CLEVELAND SHOW: KANYE WEST SPOOFS HIMSELF ON THE MAY 2 EPISODE

Released by Carita Riizzo/TV Guide

Kanye West makes his cartoon debut on the May 2 episode of The Cleveland Show as locally famous rapper Kenny West whose girlfriend Chanel (Taraji P. Henson) Cleveland Brown Jr. falls in love with. “Sweet, meek, Cleveland Brown, Jr. doesn’t know what to do because this cool guy has the woman that he wants,” says exec producer Mike Henry, who also voices Cleveland Brown. “So the episode culminates in an 8 Mile-style rap-off.”

According to Henry, the outspoken rapper was surprisingly eager to spoof himself. “He gets the jokes,” he says. “I didn’t know if he would have a big ego, or if he would tell us what to do, but it was nothing like that. He was just an eager participant.”

In fact, West enjoyed himself so much he has even signed up for more. “You can look for Kenny again in the fall,” promises Henry. “Cleveland and Kenny will be rapping together on their way to stardom.”

THE BBC CANCELS "SURVIVORS"

Released by Miss TV Girl

I am really sad to announce the cancellation of one my favorite new tv shows "Survivors".  The BBC has to decided to end the series after just two seasons, and in the world of the BBC that is just 12 episodes(six per season).

The remake of the 1970s cult sci-fi show  stars Julie Graham  and Max Beesley.  The show centered around a small group of survivors who struggle to stay alive after a deadly virus wipes out most of the world's population.

I personally found this show very entertaining despite the subject matter, due in part to the cast and writing.  Yes, these character fought against sometime unbearable obstacles, but their resilence and commitment to one another was genuine and heartfelt and made tuning in every week a complete joy.

"Survivors" will truly be missed, I will now have to watch the original to hopfully see what happened to the Survivors.  The remake supposely remains true to the essence of the original series.

A BBC spokeswoman confirmed: "The BBC is committed to making a broad range of varied and ambitious drama, but in order to achieve this we do have to move on from some pieces in order to allow new work to come through.

"After two series, Survivors will not be returning."

Miss TV Girl would like to honor the show and its cast as  next month's  Performers of the Month

SNEAK PEEK: ABC'S MIDSEASON MYSTERY "HAPPY TOWN"

Released by Miss TV Girl

This preview didn't really make me want to tune in , but it didn't make me want to quite tune out either.

" Happy Town"will premiere at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday, April 28. It will fill the spot currently held by "Ugly Betty," which will have completed its final season by then.

ABC has ordered eight episodes of "Happy Town," which means it will likely run into the early part of the summer.

The show, which comes from the "Life on Mars"/"October Road" brain trust of Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg, tells the story of an outwardly idyllic small town in Minnesota that's rocked by the presumed return of a kidnapper who terrorized the town in the past. A new crime causes a bunch of secrets to bubble to the surface

"SUPERNATURAL": GHOSTFACERS GET THEIR OWN SERIES.

Released by Carina MacKenzie/zap2it

When Travis Wester ("EuroTrip") and "CSI: NY's" A.J. Buckley shot their first episode of "Supernatural" in 2006, there were already rumors of a spin-off. Their characters, reckless amateur ghost hunters Harry and Ed, returned to the show in 2008 for "Ghostfacers."

The first episode after the writers strike ended, "Ghostfacers" defied the usual "Supernatural" format and was instead written and shot to look like the pilot episode of Ed and Harry's new reality show. Unfortunately, the faux-pilot was never picked up.

"The Winchesters erased our pilot," Buckley tells Zap2it.

"Douchebags," Wester interrupts.

"Yeah. Douchenozzles. When something happens like that, you grow from it. You get stronger, you get wiser. We looked at the grand scheme of the playing field and went, 'The Internet! Let's take it there.' One click of a button, we can talk to Obama if we want."

"Ghostfacers" has been a passion project for Wester and Buckley since they shot the first episode. "We would just literally meet on the weekend and start making videos. We'd go over to ["Supernatural" executive producer Phil Sgriccia's] garage and do it," Buckley says.

When "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke got on board, the web series became more than a pipe dream.  Wester and Buckley were invited to write their own official "Ghostfacers" webisodes along with Patrick J. Doody and Chris Valenziano.

Zap2it had a sneak peek at the first three episodes. In the first installment, Ed and Harry are looking to hire a new intern to replace Corbett ("90210" star Dustin Milligan), the intern who died on the job but, memorably, taught Ed "about how gay love can pierce through the veil of death and save the day."

On Thursday, April 15, as "Supernatural" airs its landmark 100th episode, "Point of No Return," the "Ghostfacers" web series will go live on CWTV.com. Two episodes will become available every Thursday night for five weeks. You don't want to miss these.

MTV'S "THE BURIED LIFE" PICKED UP FOR A SECOND SEASON

Released by MTV

MTV has picked up a second season of the original docu-series "The Buried Life" set to air later this year. The announcement was made today by Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for MTV. "The Buried Life" follows the real-life adventures of Duncan, Ben, Jonnie and Dave, as they travel the country trying to complete a list of "100 things they want to do before they die." For each item they cross off their list, they help a perfect stranger accomplish one of their dreams, challenging each person they meet with the ultimate question -- "What do YOU want to do before you die?"

"The Buried Life movement is spreading across the country, with even more people sharing their lists, and posing even bigger and more epic challenges for themselves and the guys," said Tony DiSanto, President of MTV Programming. "This has been and continues to be an incredible journey and we are so proud to bring this uniquely exciting and poignant series back to our viewers, along with some new twists in season 2."?

Season two of the series promises more elaborate capers and inspirational moments as people from around the country share their own lists and ask "The Buried Life" guys for help. Last season, which originally premiered January 18, 2010 delivering its strongest ratings amongst female teens 18-24, the guys delivered a baby, reunited a father and son who hadn't spoken in 17 years and crashed a party at the Playboy Mansion. And just a few weeks ago, after an attempt during the season, the guys crossed off #95: Play ball with Obama, spending time shooting a few hoops with the President at the White House.

Four years ago, "The Buried Life" began when Duncan Penn, Ben Nemtin, Dave Lingwood and Jonnie Penn, disillusioned about what lay ahead for the future of their generation, decided to make a list of everything they wanted most in life. In the process, the guys promised they would help others achieve their own life goals, including helping a young woman who lost her mother in Hurricane Katrina travel to her grave site for the first time, rewarding students they met by donating computers to a low-income school in Los Angeles, and more. The title "The Buried Life" refers to a poem written by Matthew Arnold in 1852 in which he suggests that our daily lives become so cumbersome that our REAL life becomes BURIED and we each have a desire to live our "buried life."

ALYSSA MILANO NEW ABC SERIEIS "ROMANTICALLY CHALLENGED" TO PREMIERE MONDAY. APRIL 12

Released by ABC

"Romantically Challenged," an ensemble comedy about four friends trying to find love and happiness while navigating their way through today's tricky world of dating, premieres MONDAY, APRIL 19 (9:32-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Smart and beautiful Rebecca is recently divorced after 15 years of marriage. Having never really dated before she was married and not having been on a date since Clinton was in office -- she finds it scary to start over now. Although a gifted mom and lawyer, she is clueless about dating and hopes to get some help from her equally romantically challenged friends.

Perry is Rebecca's best friend since childhood. He is a rugged man's man and a tremendously successful financial planner -- but also one of Pittsburgh's most sensitive hopeless romantics. When it comes to matters of the heart, Perry is a romance-aholic who falls in love with women 20 minutes after meeting them. After 40 minutes, he's already naming their future children.

A struggling novelist, the witty and affable Shawn has been Perry's best friend and rent-free roommate for six years. Shawn is the emotionally unavailable cynic to Perry's hopeless romantic. He has never had a relationship more serious than a three-night stand and even those send him running for the door.
Rounding out the group is Rebecca's petite, baby sister, Lisa. Behind her deceptively sweet appearance is a sassy pit bull ready to protect her older sister. Although a nurturing kindergarten teacher, she has a wild side too, and sees a "threesome" as "second base."

"Romantically Challenged" stars Alyssa Milano as Rebecca Thomas, Kyle Bornheimer as Perry Gill, Josh Lawson as Shawn Goldwater and Kelly Stables as Lisa Thomas.

TWIN PEAKS CAST:WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Released by Kim Potts/Inside TV

'Twin Peaks,' David Lynch's cult classic serial drama about the quirky, cherry pie-and-coffee-lovin' FBI agent Dale Cooper and the mysteries he investigates among the equally quirky denizens of fictional Twin Peaks, Washington, debuted 20 years ago today. And because its impact on pop culture endures -- as do airings of the series on A&E's Crime and Investigation Network, as well as NBC Universal's Chiller -- it's the perfect time to catch up with what the Lynchian stars have been up to in the past two decades.

Kyle MacLachlan
Special Agent Dale Cooper
MacLachlan, a frequent David Lynch film star before settling down in 'Twin Peaks,' has continued to play roles that capitalize on his handsome figure and offbeat on-screen presence. After co-starring in the notoriously cheesy 'Showgirls,' MacLachlan starred in another fan-fave TV show, playing Charlotte's mama's boy hubby Trey on 'Sex and the City.' He also voiced media mogul Donald Love in the videogame 'Grand Theft Auto III,' played a father who murdered his own child on an episode of 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' and, since 2006, has played the sometimes creepy, sometimes endearing Orson Hodge on 'Desperate Housewives.' New York City resident MacLachlan, who is a frequent guest host on 'Live With Regis & Kelly,' became a first-time father at age 49 when son Callum was born in 2008. The star, who was once engaged to supermodel Linda Evangelista, also co-owns the Pursued by Bear winery, and he and wife Desiree publish a Web site and series of YouTube videos dedicated to their dogs, Mookie and Sam.
Sheryl Lee
Laura Palmer
Hired to play the murdered Laura Palmer when David Lynch wanted to cast someone from the local area (Seattle) where 'Twin Peaks' was filmed, Lee impressed the filmmaker so much that he later created the part of Laura's lookalike cousin Maddy for her, to give her more to do on the show. Post-'Twin Peaks,' Lee went on to star in the movies 'Backbeat,' 'Vampires' and 'Notes From the Underground,' co-starred on Broadway with Al Pacino in 'Salome' and, before her 'Twin Peaks' co-star Kyle MacLachlan joined the cast, she was hired to play the role of another dead woman, narrator Mary-Alice Young, in the original 'Desperate Housewives' pilot (she was replaced by Brenda Strong before the series premiered). Married to musician (and Neil Diamond's son) Jesse Diamond, Lee has a son, Elijah, and most recently played Peyton's birth mother on 'One Tree Hill,' was Brian Darling's babymama on 'Dirty Sexy Money,' guest-starred on 'House' and 'CSI: New York' and did voicework for the new 'BioShock 2' videogame.
Michael Ontkean
Harry S. Truman
Ontkean, a Division I college hockey player whose first major role was in the 1977 Paul Newman sports comedy classic 'Slap Shot,' was also known for starring in Aaron Spelling's 1970s ABC cop drama 'The Rookies' before he became 'Twin Peaks' Sheriff Harry S. Truman, and for starring in the big-screen drama 'Making Love,' one of the first mainstream Hollywood movies about a closeted gay man in a heterosexual marriage. Ontkean, whose on-screen wife was Kate Jackson, while Harry Hamlin played his character's first gay lover, took the 'Making Love' role after director Arthur Hiller ('Love Story' and 'The In-Laws') had approached Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford and William Hurt, among others, about the part. Post-'Peaks,' he's been in a staple of made-for-TV movies, and guest-starred in TV series like 'The Outer Limits' and the short-lived 'North Shore.' Most recently, Ontkean, who lives in Hawaii with his wife and two children, guest-starred on the (now-defunct) Canadian and ABC Family drama 'Sophie.'

Ray Wise
Leland Palmer
One of the most prolific actors in Hollywood, Wise began his career in daytime TV, starring for six years on the CBS soap 'Love of Life.' Pre-'Twin Peaks,' he starred in 'RoboCop' and 'Swamp Thing' on the big screen, as well as hit TV shows like 'Dallas,' 'Knots Landing,' 'The A-Team,' 'L.A. Law' and 'Moonlighting.' After playing Leland, the BOB-possessed murderer of his own daughter, Wise has continued to be one of the busiest character actors in TV and movies, starring with George Clooney in 'Good Night, and Good Luck' on the big-screen, playing Vice President Hal Gardner on the fifth season of '24,' and playing one of his most-loved TV roles ever -- as the Devil -- in the dramedy 'Reaper.' Most recently, Wise has guest-starred on 'Numb3rs,' 'Psych,' 'Castle' and 'Dollhouse,' and has roles in more than half a dozen upcoming movies, including reprising his role as Taggart in 'Jeepers Creepers 3.'

Lara Flynn Boyle
Donna Hayward
Before playing Laura Palmer's BFF on 'Twin Peaks,' Boyle had minor parts in 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' and 'Dead Poets Society,' though her scenes were cut before the movies hit theaters. Post-'Twin Peaks,' she continued to make her biggest splash on TV, where she starred in 'Huff' and 'Las Vegas,' and, most notably, where she earned an Emmy nomination for her role as ADA Helen Gamble on 'The Practice.' On the big screen, she played Wayne's clumsy, clingy ex-girlfriend Stacy in 'Wayne's World,' starred in 'Threesome,' 'Red Rock West' and 'Men in Black II,' and is the 'Fatal Attraction'-ish titular psycho in the guilty pleasure, oh-so-Netflix-able 1993 thriller 'The Temp.' The tabloid magnet, who has dated Richard Dean Anderson, Harrison Ford, David Spade, Eric Dane, 'Peaks' co-star Kyle MacLachlan and, most famously, Jack Nicholson, and was the subject of much eating disorder and plastic surgery speculation during and before her time on 'The Practice,' most recently guest-starred on TV in an episode of 'Law & Order,' and stars in the upcoming big-screen comedy 'Cougar Hunting' and the drama 'Deauville.'

Peggy Lipton
Norma Jennings
'The Mod Squad' star, ex-wife of Quincy Jones and mother of 'The Office' and 'Park and Recreation' star Rashida Jones, played the owner of Twin Peaks' Double R Diner, and the slinger of the "damn fine coffee and cherry pie" that Agent Cooper loved. Since 'Twin Peaks' ended, Lipton has penned an autobiography, 'Breathing Out,' in which she revealed she'd had an affair with Paul McCartney before she starred on 'The Mod Squad,' and she survived a 2004 battle with colon cancer. She also made memorable guest appearances on 'Wings,' 'Popular' and 'Alias,' played the ex-wife of Dennis Hopper's Ben on 'Crash' last season, and, earlier this year, co-starred in the Kristen Bell/Josh Duhamel romantic comedy 'When in Rome.'

Sherilyn Fenn
Audrey Horne
Vampy rich girl Audrey was played by Fenn, whose most famous pre-'Peaks' roles were in the cult fave teen comedy 'Just One of the Guys' and an appearance on '21 Jump Street' with then-fiancee Johnny Depp. Audrey Horne was her breakout role, though Fenn later turned down the chance to star as the character in a 'Twin Peaks' spin-off series. Instead, since the show ended, she has played Curley's wife in the Gary Sinise/John Malkovich version of 'Of Mice and Men,' played Elizabeth Taylor in the made-for-TV miniseries 'Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story' and played Ginger, the one-legged woman who was skeeved by Chandler's third nipple in an episode of 'Friends.' She also starred in 'Boxing Helena,' the big-screen drama in which her titular Helena was the amputated object of obsession of Julian Sands' character, she played a washed-up soap actress in the Showtime drama series 'Rude Awakening,' she played Lulu Hogg in the 'Dukes of Hazzard' movie prequel 'The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning,' and she had recurring roles on 'Dawson's Creek,' 'Boston Public' and 'Gilmore Girls,' as the mother of the daughter Luke never knew he had. Last year, she guest starred as a lesbian counterfeiter on 'In Plain Sight,' and launched her personal blog, Postcards From the Ledge.

Mädchen Amick
Shelly Johnson
Double R Diner server Shelly was played by Amick, who made the abused Shelly one of the show's most popular characters. After 'Twin Peaks,' she landed the leads in two more series, 'Central Park West' and a 'Fantasy Island' remake, which were both short-lived. Like former co-star Sherilyn Fenn, she also had recurring roles on 'Gilmore Girls' and 'Dawson's Creek,' as well as on 'ER,' 'Joey,' 'Kidnapped,' 'Jake in Progress' and 'Californication.' She played the female leads in 'Viva Laughlin' and 'My Own Worst Enemy,' was Nate's cougar lover on 'Gossip Girl,' and, this year, has had recurring guest roles on 'Damages' and 'CSI: NY' (as the love interest of Gary Sinise's Mac). Next up, she's signed on for a role in the Fox fall drama pilot 'Pleading Guilty,' co-starring John Larroquette and Jason Isaacs, a legal thriller based on a Scott Turow novel.

PARENTHOOD: MISS TV GIRLS'S BEST CLIP OF THE WEEK

I am really enjoying "Parenthood". I really hope NBC decides to pick this show for a second season. The cast is really amazing, I know a lot of people are saying that it is a little to sappy, but I love everything about "Parenthood" and look forward to spending more time with the 'Braverman' clan.

For Toya, family remains at the center of her life as she continues to build a solid foundation for her spunky eleven year-old daughter, Reginae, confront her mother Anita with "tough love" while she continues to fight her war with drugs, all while entertaining a love life of her own.

Last season TINY & TOYA garnered 3 million viewers, taking the number one spot for Original Series "premiere" in BET history. The new series also gave viewers a peek behind all the glitz and glamour and highlighted their personal strength and commitment to staying true to oneself.
